Everyone knows the Driver Certificate of Professional Competence (CPC) became a legal requirement for almost everyone driving a commercial vehicle over 3.5 tonnes from September 2009…or do they? According to Mercedes-Benz, there are over 450,000 active drivers requiring CPC training and yet many drivers have failed to take the first step on the road to the legally required qualification. It would appear there are a group of drivers secretly hoping (likely in vain!) that somehow the government will renege on its decision or offer some form of amnesty.
